A plumbing emergency is one of the following issues:
- Severe clogs: A severe clog is one that is not solved using a plunger, drain snake, or drain cleaning fluid. If water isn’t draining at all from a sink, toilet, shower, or another plumbing fixture, a severe clog is to blame. Severe clogs are not safe to have around because they can cause flooding, contaminated water, weak water pressure, leaks, burst pipes, etc.
- Blackwater: Contaminated water, also known as blackwater, is obviously an emergency because it poses a health risk. Contaminated water is most often a result of a clog. It can be noticeable when the water changes color and smell.
- Burst pipes: Once a burst pipe is noticed, which is not always right away, it should be addressed immediately because it can cause significant damage to a home and pose serious danger to those living in it.
- Sewage smell: If there is a sewage smell in the house, there could be a gas leak, a dried-out water trap, misplaced plugs or caps, or an issue with a septic tank. Either way, a home is not livable with a sewage smell.
- No water: It’s no surprise that a home without water is considered an emergency in our book! A lack of water is most often caused by an issue with the water main.
